I have lived in Southbourne for twenty-three years, although I was born in Yorkshire. I am married to David and have five children, all of who have attended local schools. I have worked for a number of different library services, including West Sussex. I also have experience of working with severely disabled children at Fordwater School, and with homeless teenagers in Portsmouth. I studied history as a mature student at Portsmouth University, and volunteer at the D-Day Museum and the Spring in Havant. I think it is important that maintain cohesion in our community at a time of great change in the village. I am also a District Councillor for the Southbourne Ward.

I was born and educated in Chichester and on leaving school I worked in local government at County Hall. After 8 years I was invited to join the Prudential Assurance Company as a local agent, having moved to Southbourne in 1963. Over 30 years with "The Pru" I came friends with so many of my clients but sadly many of them are no longer with us.

During the past 56 years I have seen many changes to Southbourne and the surrounding villages but even more is going to take place in the next 10-15 years.

I feel the Parish Council together with the wonderful volunteers involved in the Neighbourhood Plan have become the guardians looking after the future of Southbourne.

Having grown up in Southbourne and attended all the local schools, I returned in 2018 with my two young sons to a village I love and care about.

Throughout my working career I have been customer focused and have a likable friendly approach. I like to help others to see the bigger picture and what they can do to help to empower change, to achieve common goals.

I am also organised, and like to share and encourage ideas to create a positive outcome. Both my parents were Parish Councillors which has encouraged me to follow in their footsteps.

By joining the Parish Council I would like to support the future of our Village and help protect our beautiful environment for future generations.
