We’d like to extend our appreciation to the residents and local business owners who joined us at last night’s Electors Meeting. It was great to hear from those who took the time to attend and share their thoughts on the future of our parish.
We were especially grateful for the suggestions and feedback on how to use our Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds. There were some thoughtful ideas shared, particularly around improving sports facilities and increasing green spaces in Southbourne. It was encouraging to see such a willingness to contribute ideas, and we truly value the input. Hearing directly from residents about how they believe this funding should be spent is incredibly important to us. The CIL is a vital resource for supporting local infrastructure and community projects, and your ideas help ensure that it’s used in ways that genuinely reflect the needs and aspirations of the people who live and work here. These conversations not only guide our decision-making but also strengthen the connection between the council and the community we serve.
The idea of a community hub in Southbourne also received strong support. Although this had to be removed from the Neighbourhood Plan, it remains a key area of interest for the Parish Council. We’re continuing to explore how it might be delivered and are in ongoing discussions with Chichester District Council to see what could be possible.
We’d also like to thank the Gypsy, Traveller and Community Liaison Officer for attending and sharing more about her role in the community. And to everyone who asked questions or offered constructive suggestions—your input is always welcome and appreciated.
A big thank you as well to the Bourne Leisure Centre for sharing your vision for the future and the initiatives you’re exploring to expand your facilities and services. And to The Southbourne Pharmacy, thank you for sharing your experience of taking over the former pharmacy and the positive feedback you’ve received from the community.
We’ll be reviewing all the comments and ideas shared and considering them at future council meetings. We will keep residents updated as things progress. Your continued engagement and support make a real difference.
