Sussex Day Fete
This June, Southbourne Parish Council is excited to announce the return of our summer fete, with this year’s theme being Sussex Day. The event promises to be a delightful celebration of our local heritage and community spirit. We are thrilled to welcome back some of our favourite vendors who have supported us in the past. Skyline will once again grace the fete with their two large marquees, providing ample space for activities and relaxation. They will also bring their charming vintage VW bar with its unique style and refreshing beverages. St. John’s Church will be generously offering a free barbeque, a highlight of last years event, keep an eye out for your voucher in our upcoming publications! Adding to the excitement, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) will be returning, showcasing their impressive Stormer vehicle. This attraction was a crowd favourite at last year’s D-Day event, captivating both young and old with its powerful presence. Mark your calendars for Saturday 14th June 2025 11am- 3pm at Southbourne Recreation Ground and join us for a day filled with fun, food, and festivities as we celebrate Sussex Day together. 🎉 Hop On the Free Bus to the Sussex Day Fete! 🚌
Keep an eye out in the coming days—you’ll start seeing bright new posters at bus stops around the village! These are request stops for the Southbourne Parish Council’s Sussex Day Fete, and they’re part of a special route served by the Bourne Community Bus.
🌟 Here’s the best part: travel is completely FREE!
No need to book, show ID, or carry a ticket. Just give the driver a friendly wave at any marked stop, and hop on!
🗺️ Check out the map below to see the full route and all the stops. You can get on or off at any point along the way.
🕥 Service starts at 10:50 AM from Thorney Island, with the last pick-up from Southbourne Recreation Ground just after 3 PM. The full loop takes about 40 minutes, so you can expect a bus at each stop roughly every 40 minutes.
This community initiative helps reduce traffic and parking at the Recreation Ground, making the day more enjoyable for everyone.

Exciting News! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be providing free transport to and from the Sussex Day Fete at the Recreation Ground on Saturday, June 14th.
We’ll be sharing the route and map soon, and we’d love your input on safe and accessible stops within the Parish of Southbourne. Please share your suggestions with us!

We are delighted to announce that Bounce Fitness With Donna will be joining us at the Sussex Day Fete! Children will have the fantastic opportunity to try out Donna’s amazing rebound boots for free! It’s a fun and energetic way for kids to stay active and enjoy the day
We’re pleased to announce another new vendor for this years fete. Just Slush will be attending and selling slushies and candy floss at a special reduced rate for attendees.
