Chair

The Village Hall

First Avenue

Southbourne

PO10 8HN

E: [email protected]

Why did you decide to become a Cllr.?

“It was suggested by a new friend I’d met at the Southbourne Environment Group. It seemed a good way to get to know my new community.”

What are your responsibilities as ‘Chair’?

“My responsibilities include running the full council meeting as efficiently as possible. Representing the parish on outside bodies (CDALC/WSALC) and the occasional invite as a “local dignitary”. But also assisting our officers in facilitating the decisions the council makes on behalf of the community.”

What is your favourite part/ specific interest of the role?

“I really like the planning committee, being Chair of that as well. It’s been wonderful getting to know so many residents and hopefully I have been able to assist in getting things sorted for them as things arise.”

What hobbies do you have outside of this role?

“I am an avid gardener and environmentalist, also have 3 jack russells that keep me on my toes.”

What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a Cllr.?

“Just do it! It is easy to criticise from a far, but I think it’s always better to be part of the change you wish to see happen. It does not have to take up so much extra time, but we all have a few spare hours in a month, to hopefully shape the best future for the parish in which we live.”
